Centro Comercial Punto Valle

Located in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, Punto Valle was conceived with a vision to redefine the traditional shopping center experience in northern Mexico. In a region largely dominated by enclosed retail developments inspired by U.S. models, the project introduced an open-air town center concept, bringing together shopping, entertainment, hospitality, workplaces, and social spaces within a dynamic urban environment.

The idea began to take shape in 2013, when Luis Carlos Villarreal, Juan Carlos Durán, and Ana Garza, partners at VISA Desarrollos, set out to create a development unlike anything the area had seen before. Their goal was to establish a destination more closely connected to public space and evolving patterns of social interaction, moving away from the conventional format of fully enclosed shopping malls.

Turning that vision into reality required overcoming significant challenges. The development team presented the concept to dozens of investors before securing the support needed to acquire and develop the site. As Luis Carlos Villarreal recalls, only seven of the 36 potential investors approached initially believed in the project. Ultimately, following a competitive bidding process led by the American School Foundation, the team acquired a site of approximately 45,000 square meters, laying the foundation for what would become one of the most innovative commercial developments in San Pedro Garza García.

The result is a destination that transformed the way retail environments are conceived in the region, embracing a more open, integrated, and contemporary urban experience, where architecture plays a central role in creating meaningful gathering places for the community.
