Biblioteca TEC Campus Monterrey

With the goal of transforming the learning experience and fostering stronger connections among students, faculty, and professionals, Tecnológico de Monterrey undertook the redevelopment of its library at the Monterrey Campus. Conceived as a response to the evolving needs of 21st-century education, the project embraces more flexible, collaborative, and technology-driven environments designed to support new ways of teaching and learning.

The development was led by the Boston-based firm Sasaki Associates in collaboration with GLR Arquitectos and RDLP Arquitectos, bringing together a multidisciplinary team that guided the project from concept through completion. Their shared vision was to create more than a traditional library: a vibrant hub for the entire Tec community where education, technology, and collaboration seamlessly converge.

Transparency and visual connectivity became defining elements of the design. The building’s glass façade opens the library to the campus, maximizing daylight while strengthening the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. This approach also supported the project's sustainability goals and its pursuit of LEED® certification, incorporating regional materials and high-performance design strategies to enhance building efficiency.

Spanning more than 17,000 square meters (approximately 185,000 sq ft) across five levels, the new Tec Library has evolved from a space primarily dedicated to study and research into a multifunctional destination that includes collaborative work areas, multimedia spaces, workshops, exhibition areas, terraces, and social gathering spaces. The result is a building that reflects the future of education and serves as one of the campus's most important centers for learning, interaction, and community engagement.
