Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles (AIFA)

Located in the State of Mexico, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) is part of a national strategy aimed at strengthening air connectivity and expanding the country’s operational aviation capacity. Designed by architect Francisco González, the project was conceived with a vision that integrates contemporary architecture with its surroundings, prioritizing spacious, functional environments filled with natural light.

From the earliest stages of design, one of the primary objectives was to create a terminal capable of delivering a comfortable experience for millions of passengers while meeting demanding energy-efficiency and sustainability goals. Achieving this balance required a building envelope that would maximize daylight penetration without significantly increasing solar heat gain or cooling loads.

Glazing played a critical role in supporting this strategy. As Francisco González noted, the selected solution helped maximize natural light while contributing to the building’s overall energy performance and reinforcing the clean, modern aesthetic of the terminal. The result is an airport facility that successfully combines functionality, occupant comfort, and design excellence, establishing itself as one of Mexico’s most significant infrastructure projects in recent years.
